Kylian Mbappe’s recent behavior has severely strained his relationship with Real Madrid teammates, creating deep divisions and turmoil within the club. This comes as Los Blancos suffer a trophy-less season, further compounded by a historic defeat to Barcelona – marking the first time Barcelona clinched the La Liga title in a Clasico, and only the second time in league history after Real Madrid did it 94 years ago.

According to Spanish outlet El Desmarque, Real Madrid players have grown tired of Mbappe prioritizing personal interests over the club for months: his holiday in Italy, laughing while leaving training, ongoing knee issues keeping him sidelined, and most recently his Instagram story during Barcelona’s 2-0 lead against Madrid.

Journalist Jorge Picon said on the podcast “Desmarque”: “Mbappe is sending messages consciously” referring to the Instagram story. He added: “If I had to bet, I would say he will not play the next match (against Real Oviedo at the Bernabeu) and will play the last game away from the Bernabeu.” Picon continued: “I think Mbappe does not want to be publicly ridiculed by Real Madrid fans, and will do everything to avoid participating in that match without taking responsibility.”

Highlighting the crisis, Picon said: “This is one of the deep problems the club must take responsibility for: a player who came to be a leader but lost support from teammates and some close associates in two seasons. He made decisions ignoring the team and coach for personal reasons, leaving a devastating impact on the dressing room.”

French outlet Foot Mercato also cited The Athletic: “A source from Madrid stated they believe Mbappe might want to avoid returning to play at the Bernabeu this season after being jeered and whistled at by fans multiple times. He is heavily focused on preparing for the World Cup.” The report concluded: “Is this accurate or a false rumor? Either way, Real Madrid still has two home matches against Oviedo and Athletic Bilbao before the season ends.”
