Following reports from Monday by Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona and head coach Hansi Flick have officially agreed to a contract extension, which the German tactician confirmed during his Tuesday press conference. The new deal ties him to the Catalan club until 2028, with an option to extend for an additional season.
“We will go together until 2028, and if everything goes well, we will decide to continue. I have the option to stop, and the club does too,” Flick explained, confirming a two-year agreement with a possible extension to 2029.
Arriving at the helm in the summer of 2024, the 61-year-old coach successfully rebuilt a club struggling with financial difficulties. Under his guidance, Barcelona rediscovered its highly offensive playing identity and became competitive again, winning La Liga twice — with the second title confirmed on Sunday following a Clasico victory — and the Copa del Rey once.
