Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has played down his team’s impact on the Premier League title race, stating that their influence is “certainly less than VAR.”
Speaking at a pre-match press conference ahead of the rescheduled 31st-round fixture against Manchester City, Glasner was asked about Palace’s role in the title battle. “The initiative is in their own hands,” he said. “If Manchester City win all three remaining games 10-0 each, and Arsenal drop points, City still have a chance. If Arsenal win both of their matches, they will be champions.”
With a touch of humor, the Austrian coach added: “Honestly, after you asked that question, I checked my payslip. I didn’t find any money from Arsenal or Manchester City. I misspoke there—so I am responsible for Crystal Palace, not for Arsenal or City. I’ve just had that confirmed, and that’s always been our approach. We always consider what is best for ourselves. That is my duty, our duty. I think our influence on the title race is certainly less than VAR.”
Crystal Palace will travel to the Etihad to face Manchester City before hosting title contenders Arsenal at Selhurst Park in the 37th round.
