According to the Daily Mail, a pair of Cristiano Ronaldo’s boots discovered in a bin at Carrington in 2004 has been auctioned for £7,500.
The golden Nike Vapor boots, reportedly discarded by Ronaldo after a training session in 2004, were found by former Manchester United cleaner Tony Haywood.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo’s black away jersey worn during the 2005 victory over Liverpool at Anfield fetched £14,000 at Graham Budd Auctioneers in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire — surpassing the £10,000 price tag for a red shirt worn by David Beckham during the treble-winning season.
A original “Manchester United Football Club” sign, once mounted atop the Stretford End and given by Sir Matt Busby to his barber during the 1992 stadium redevelopment, failed to meet its reserve price.
The item was estimated at between £40,000 and £60,000. According to insiders, unless a low bidder reaches a private deal with the seller, the sign may be re-auctioned at a lower reserve.
