On May 1 (Beijing time), the 2026 World Aquatics Artistic Swimming World Cup kicked off in Xi’an, with the Chinese team securing an impressive haul of three gold medals and one silver on the first day of competition.

In the women’s solo technical routine, Chinese swimmer Xu Huiyan claimed the gold medal with a score of 263.8634 points, marking China’s first gold of the event. In the men’s solo technical routine, Guo Muye earned a silver medal with 245.2684 points, which was also China’s first medal of the competition. Another young Chinese athlete, Lei Zichen, finished fifth with 192.4258 points.

The women’s duet technical routine saw the pair of Xu Huiyan and Lin Yanjun take gold with a score of 308.2983 points. Another Chinese duo, Guo Sitong and He Zhien, placed 14th. In the team technical routine, the Chinese team delivered a stellar performance to win gold with 304.3592 points.
