Former Russian national team head coach Vyacheslav Bykov has shared his thoughts on the performance of 39-year-old Lokomotiv forward Alexander Radulov during the Gagarin Cup playoffs.
Lokomotiv defeated Ak Bars 3-1 in the first game of the final series, with Radulov contributing two points (1 goal, 1 assist). Bykov, who knows Radulov well from their time together, expressed no surprise at the veteran’s continued excellence.
“Given my knowledge of Alexander, his professionalism, and his charisma, I can easily imagine his desire to win every match, every shift, and to aim for the highest titles—both for the team and for himself. But team success comes first,” Bykov said in an interview.
When asked if Radulov’s standout play at age 39, which could earn him playoff MVP honors, was impressive, Bykov added: “I’m not surprised. Lokomotiv and Ak Bars both have playoff experience and have won the Gagarin Cup before. This will be an exciting final for hockey fans.”
Radulov’s impact has been undeniable, with his fiery leadership and scoring ability keeping Lokomotiv in contention for the championship.
