[Sports Chosun, Reporter Kang Woo-jin] South Korean national football team player Jens Castrop (22) was involved in an altercation with a teammate during club training.
German outlet *Bild* reported on the 12th (local time) that following the shocking 1-3 defeat to Augsburg, Borussia Mönchengladbach’s squad resumed training. However, tensions ran high during the session.
Mönchengladbach is preparing for their upcoming Bundesliga match against Hoffenheim on the 16th. During a mini-game, a dispute broke out between Castrop and Lucas Ullrich. According to *Bild*, the two players nearly grabbed each other by the throat after a fierce physical exchange, with teammates stepping in to separate them.

Per the report, after a rough challenge, Castrop stormed toward Ullrich and shouted, “What are you doing? You fouled me. Shut up!” Witnessing the scene, Mönchengladbach head coach Eugen Polanski stopped the training, loudly exclaiming, “You only complained in Augsburg, and now you’re trying to kill each other here?” This was his way of saying he wanted to see that kind of fighting spirit in the match against Augsburg, not just in training.
Coach Polanski downplayed the incident afterward, stating, “It was a normal training session with good quality and intensity. There was a bit of friction, but it’s fine.”
Polanski expects the players to show the same fierce determination in the upcoming match against Hoffenheim. Mönchengladbach fans also hope to see this spirit as the team finishes the season strong.

Castrop is still a young player who needs to grow through various experiences. A clash with a teammate can be part of that process. South Korea captain Son Heung-min also once engaged in a physical fight with a teammate during his time at Hamburg in the Bundesliga. On July 13, 2012, during a training camp in Austria, Son exchanged punches with Rajkovic. The incident caused teammate Tolgay Arslan, who tried to intervene, to be hit by Rajkovic and suffer a cut on his forehead that required stitches. The fight reportedly started when Rajkovic taunted Son about not passing the ball properly.
