Paris Saint-Germain midfielder João Neves spoke in the mixed zone after his team booked their place in the UEFA Champions League final, delivering a confident message about the squad’s quality.

“We are very happy with what we have achieved so far. I want to congratulate Bayern Munich. They are a great team. In my opinion, after us, they are the best in Europe and the world. We have proven at home and away that we are the best team. We can attack, defend, suffer, and breathe with and without the ball. That’s what a great team does.”

“The match was very tough. I’m exhausted and struggling to speak, but I am extremely happy with what we have done – not just in this game, but throughout the entire Champions League campaign.”

Reflecting on reaching his second consecutive Champions League final at just 21 years old, Neves added: “It’s true. As I said last year, I arrived here with a very clear project of what the club is and what they expect from me and the team. We are achieving our goals. Our objective has always been to fight until the end, and this is the best way to reach these moments. Two consecutive years in the final – whether we win or lose, we are already very happy.”

“We will face one of the great teams in the world, Arsenal, and we are ready. Our staff does excellent preparation work, and we trust them, just as they trust us. The final is just one match, and it is always difficult. Football can be fair or unfair. We can play better or worse and still win or lose. (…) We also still have the league to win, which is a clear target for us. I think the Champions League final will come down to the details. It’s not 100% certain, but usually, the better team wins – the one that executes the details better.”
