Real Valladolid and Real Zaragoza will face off in what Escribá described as their own “Champions League final” on Saturday at 18:30 local time at the José Zorrilla Stadium. The match has been assigned to referee Andrés Fuentes Molina.
The 35-year-old Valencian official has taken charge of two games for each team this season, and both sides remain undefeated when he has been the referee. Valladolid had Fuentes Molina in their two matches against Huesca, winning 4-1 away and 1-0 at home in Escribá’s first game in charge at Zorrilla. Zaragoza, meanwhile, secured a 2-1 victory in Eibar and a 1-1 draw in Leganés under his watch approximately a month ago.
In 20 matches this season, Fuentes Molina has shown 100 yellow cards (an average of five per game) and has sent off three players, including Zaragoza’s Yusiff in that away win at Ipurua. This is his fourth season officiating in the Segunda División, and he ranks among the most active referees this campaign. He will be assisted by VAR official José Antonio López Toca.
